Lots of burgers and excited onlookers marked this unique event organised by a city burger joint at Futala Lake on Friday. Drawing inspiration from the show Man vs. Food, it involved a specific and large amount of food, which was supposed to be consumed in an hour. The goal was not to compete against anybody, but to finish an entire platter of food in the given time.
The two contenders, Parinay Kotian and Raghav Sood, were both heavily built and looked completely at ease with the heaps of food before them.
When we caught up with Rajiv Jindal, the organiser of the event, he said "We don't see eateries hosting such events in Nagpur. I myself tried eating as many burgers as I could before finalising the amount to serve. I could eat 12, but last year's participant could eat only four. This year has shown a slight improvement as both the contenders managed to finish five of the ten burgers served." Though neither of them managed to finish the food platter in the stipulated hour, it was an exciting event and the onlookers had a great time cheering the participants.
